This workshop took place during the 2018 Hands Across the Appalachian Trail protest "to protect land, communities and the Appalachian Trail from the unnecessary and unwanted onslaught of natural gas pipelines". Senator John Edwards and Delegate Chris Hurst spoke at the event, which was sponsored by Sponsored by the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club, Sierra Club - Roanoke and New River Groups, Roanoke Valley Cool Cities Coalition, Appalachian Voices, CCAN, POWHR, Save Monroe and Indian Creek Watershed Association, and Preserve Giles County.
