The Unmaking of a Modernist is a work in progress. The experimental documentary is meant to historically position the social practice art genre, medium, method through the work of Suzi Gablik. Gablik, a student of Charles Olson at Black Mountain College in the late 1950's, Robert Motherwell at Hunter College in the early 1960s and a faithful Modernist, became author to the books Has Modernism Failed, The Re-enchantment of Art, and Conversations Before the End of Time. The project investigates Gablik’s formative immersions and how she boldly came to question the New York art world that raised her.
