The Unmaking of a Modernist is a work in progress. The experimental documentary is meant to historically position the social practice art genre, medium, method with the work of Suzi Gablik. Gablik, a student of Charles Olson at Black Mountain College in the late 50's, Robert Motherwell at Hunter College in the early 1960s and a faithful Modernist, became author to the books Has Modernism Failed, The Re-enchantment of Art, and Conversations Before the End of Time. The project investigates Gablik’s formative immersions and how she boldly came to question the prevailing New York art world paradigm that raised her.
