To lustrate means to cleanse or purify. The simple acts within this vertically-formatted ritual performance reframe touch between mother and daughter to acknowledge suffering, yet make space for forgiveness and release. Lustration is a work of silent collaborative gestures, one of acknowledging shared lineages of trauma. The bodies in this project, both apart and together, consciously explore how to negotiate and move past their complex history.
